Gsuite - Cloud Email & Productivity for Business

Does your business still store all of its documents on your computer network? If so, why?

Bank vaults and safety deposit boxes became popular because keeping valuables in your home is often just not such a good idea. Well, it’s the same principle with the cloud. Why take on the responsibility and headache of keeping up to date with all of the daily security news and updates when Google has a team of cybersecurity professionals handling these tasks every day? Hey, if the cloud is good enough for the NSA1, it must be good enough for businesses. Think of Google’s data centres as your personal information vault.

So what exactly is Gsuite?

Gsuite is a suite of programmes that can replace (or complement) your existing office applications. So that’s a document editor, spreadsheet software, presentation creator, email and calendar organiser, etc.

Except its leaps and bounds better than what Microsoft or Apple offer in many ways. Why?

first: Security

If you’re worried about unauthorised access, Google goes a step further than little password protection and offers an extra layer of security called two-step authentication. This is what high-end banks use to verify your identity when you log in to their servers.

Also, Google encrypts everything with SSL; the same infrastructure credit card companies use to safeguard information when purchasing goods online. And if that wasn’t enough, Google employs industry leaders in security to continually update and improve their data centres and has third-party reviews of their safety.

second: Ease of access and collaboration

Storing documents in the cloud make collaboration truly easy. Gone are the days of awkwardly sending your co-workers incrementally updated versions of a report through email attachments. Instead, you can now access the same document in Google’s cloud and even work on it simultaneously.

third: No more data loss

This is probably my favourite feature - continuous backup. Every minute change you make to a document is saved immediately, so if your computer crashes, you’ll be hard-pressed to lose even a couple of letters!

Bradford & Barthel, LLP, said this about Gsuite:

“As a law firm handling confidential information for our clients, Bradford & Barthel takes security extremely seriously... our best security option is Google Apps. Google has many security features that allow us to feel confident that our and our clients' data is much safer than if we hosted it on premises.”
